Apple Tree Lodge is an A-frame cabin that sits a couple of miles from Gillingham in Dorset. It comes with three bedrooms which include a double, a twin and a single, there is also a bathroom and a cloakroom, the property is able to sleep five people. Inside, also find an open-plan living area with a kitchen, a dining area and a sitting area with an electric fire. To the outside, you will see plenty of off-road parking, a decking with a BBQ, furniture and pizza oven and 15 acres of shared grounds with lakes. Apple Tree Lodge is set within 15 acres of woodland in rolling countryside between the small villages of Silton and Milton on Stour. It is a couple of miles to the town of Gillingham and 5 miles to Shaftesbury with a good variety of shops, restaurants, cafes and pubs and famous for Gold Hill as seen in the Hovis advert of old. The lodge itself is an A-frame log cabin giving a distinct triangular shape with a large open plan living area and a fresh and simplistic interior. Outside is a generous deck and then 15 acres of grounds to explore where you can also try your hand at canoeing, fishing and pitch and putt. The Blackmore Vale, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is part of the Stour Valley and the area is dotted with plenty of pretty rural walks with a number of National Trust properties to see in the area including Longleat, Stourhead and Wilton. A great area for a doggy holiday and the lodge accepts up to two well-behaved dogs so you can all holiday together.
The accommodation at Apple Tree Lodge comprises an open plan living area with a sitting area with electric fire, TV with FreeSat and WiFi-enabled throughout. The kitchen is well equipped with an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge, dishwasher as well as a range of accessories and utensils. The dining area seats five comfortably with great views out to the countryside. Also on the ground floor is the double bedroom and the family bathroom with bath with shower over, basin and toilet. The first floor has a twin and single bedroom and a cloakroom with a toilet and basin.
Outside is a large deck with furniture, a gas barbecue and a pizza oven with a further 15 acres of grounds to explore including woodland and lakes. There is ample off-road parking. Your fuel, power, bed linen and towels are all included in the price.

Shaftesbury is one of the highest and oldest towns in England, a beautiful town sitting in a glorious landscape. The town is the home of Gold Hill, made famous by the “Hovis” advert and with views across the Blackmore Vale and thatched cottages, it is very picturesque. The main shopping is around the High Street where there are lots of small, independent retailers as well as coffee shops and cafes and you will find craft shops down the side streets. Shaftsbury market takes place on Thursdays and sells local produce, all against the backdrop of Gold Hill and spectacular views.
In July, the Gold Hill Fair is a weekend event with music, dance and more. In June, join in with the Shaftesbury festival. This is a weeklong celebration, enjoy music, entertainment and even dog shows - fun for all the family. At the end of August visit the Gillingham and Shaftesbury Show. This has over 500 exhibitors and a host of events making this a fantastic day out for all the family, jam-packed with entertainment for all ages.
Longleat House, the Safari and Adventure Park, is a great day out and is just a 30 minute drive away. You can see lions, tigers, wolves, cheetahs and a whole host of other animals. There are seasonal events and tours on offer or visit the house and gardens. Explore Old Wardour Castle, run by English Heritage. The castle featured in Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves, find the turrets and the views from the top of the castle to beautiful countryside beyond.
